Caught in the Act!
Kale's new favorite thing to do is to play in the pantry. He turns on the light, says "bye, bye", and closes the door on himself. The other evening, we opened the door to discover him sitting on the floor chowing down on snacks, so when he disappeared in the pantry last night, we got out the camera. We caught him in the act! You can tell by the smile on his face that he loved this game. I actually ended up putting his dinner in the pantry...he ate the majority of it on his own.
In addition to eating in the pantry, Kale has started going to the bathroom in there (in his diaper). He goes in, closes the door, and comes out a few minutes later saying "poo." He is so ready to potty train...we are going to do potty training boot camp as soon as we get moved.
Liam loves watching Kale pop in and out of the pantry. He sits in his bumbo on the countertop and squeals with delight at his big brother.

Sweet Brothers
I love watching my sweet boys interact. It is definitely the highlight of my days. Kale loves holding his little brother and will frequently sit on the rocker and hold out his arms. This is his signal that he wants to take Liam. Liam thinks Kale is hilarious and laughs more at his brother than anyone else.
Just this morning I took Kale in to help me wake up Liam. I put Kale in the bed next to Liam. He crouched over the top of him and very gently started kissing him and jabbering quietly to him. Liam woke up with a smile on his face. It completely melted my heart!

Father's Day
We had a great, relaxing Father's Day. We took Kris to brunch at a nice restaurant. It is not normally a restaurant we would take kids, but there were several kids there since it was Father's Day. The boys minded their manners...pretty much...
I got Kris this corny "World's Best Dad" T-Shirt as a gag gift. He came out with it tucked into his shorts and his shorts pulled up as high as they would go. I laughed so hard I could barely take a picture. Kris also received a beard trimmer from the boys and a fancy, new grill from me for our new place in Virginia.
Kris is a great dad to our boys. They are lucky to have such an amazing, doting father.
Since we are moving in less than 2 weeks, we decided to finally go to "Cadillac Ranch." This place is visited by people from all over the U.S. There are 10 old Cadillac's buried halfway in the ground. People bring spray paint and paint the cars. I don't really get it...but we had to go see it since it is such a well known exhibit.
It rained the night before so the area around the cars was quite muddy.
People actually took off their shoes and waded in the mud to paint the cars. Kris didn't think anyone would believe us if we just told them about the crazy people who did this...so we took pictures. No, we do not know these people!

Play Date
Our neighbors, the Taylor's, came over for a playdate. Van is 2 months younger than Liam. The boys enjoyed rolling around and cooing at one another.
Georgia is a few months younger than Kale, so playing together is always very eventful for us. We played in the sprinkler; that's why Georgia has on her swimsuit.
Kale grins so big for the camera these days that he closes his eyes.
Kale has learned to drink from a big boy cup. I can't believe it's already time for that! He is pretty good at it and we have had minimal messes.
I think my happy man is getting a tooth. He has been much fussier than usual.
Kale and I were playing with the camera and took this self-portrait. I thought it turned out pretty good!
Kale is starting to dress himself and pick out of his own clothes. He has some interesting style. We were running to Hastings and by the time we left he had sunglasses on his face and his head and had my purse over his shoulder. Along with the hat...I couldn't help but laugh!

Swimming Lessons
Kale attended swimming lessons this week. I think he did pretty well for a 2 year old. He was, by far, the youngest kid in his class.
The class was a Parent and Me and it was more about water exploration than learning to swim. The first day we went, it was just Kale and I. He threw such a fit, kicking and screaming and refusing to get in the water. I had to literally toss him into the water to get him in there. It was so embarrassing!
He learned to kick and move his arms in the water, but he won't do them both at the same time. He's really not into multi-tasking. He can jump off the edge into the water and will put his face in the water without too much fuss. We worked on blowing bubbles and floating, but those are concepts he didn't master. We plan to do lessons again next year and hopefully he will get a little better each year.
He is pretty good at swimming independently with a noodle.
Dad and Kale had some fun as well. Kale loved being thrown up into the air and being caught.

Check Up
Liam's six month check up was today. He weighed 19 lbs and 2 oz and was 27 inches long. He is in the 80th percentile for weight and height. He has actually lost some weight, as he had a bad stomach virus a few days ago. The doctor declared him healthy, so for that we are grateful!

6 Months
Today is Liam's half birthday! I cannot believe my sweet boy is already 6 months old. Time is just flying by with him. He is such a sweet, easy baby. When Kale was a baby, I was anxious for him to get older, because it was so hard to know exactly what he wanted. With Liam, it's easy...he only cries if he is hungry or tired. The rest of the time, he is ALL smiles. I really wish time would slow down so I could enjoy more time with my sweet baby.
