Pouty Baby!

Kale was completely exhausted when I took this picture. I was feeding him and pulled the bottle out of his mouth. He immediately stuck out his bottom lip-it looked like he was pouting.

Kale's sleep schedule is still very inconsistent. Sometimes he makes it through the whole night, and sometimes he wakes up twice per night. He rarely sleeps during the day for more than just a few minutes at a time. It seems that the second I put him down he wakes up. I am hoping to get him on a better schedule in the coming weeks.
Kale just loves being naked. We grilled out one evening when Kris' parents were here. I stripped Kale down and he enjoyed a nice dinner with us.

We got this little Harley jacket for Kale at Baby Daze. We had to get a picture of him with his grandpa with the jacket on. Grandpa Dick wears Harley shirts all the time.

2010!

One of the girls my mom works with sent Kale this onsie. It should always be easy to remember how old he is, since he was born in 2010.

He is beginning to smile and I think I caught him mid-smile.

A Visit from Grandma & Grandpa

Kris' parents came to visit for a week. Kale enjoyed meeting his grandma and grandpa Helling. Kris and I appreciated all of the help with baby Kale!

This was Dick's favorite position with Kale. Kale loved to sleep on his stomach on his grandpa. He did christen grandpa by pooping on him while he was here.

First Sunday at Church

This little outfit was one of the first ones that I bought Kale when I found out I was having a boy. I was so excited for him to wear it during his first visit to church. I think he looks quite handsome!

He did a really good job at church. He fussed once and I got up and went to the cry room for a few minutes. Once I took him back in, he fell asleep almost immediately and slept for the rest of the service. He did pass alot of really loud gas during at the beginning of the service! Thank goodness we were singing. I was afraid people would think it was me!

Going Swimming!

We took Kale swimming for the first time last weekend. He actually liked it pretty well. He cried when Kris first put him in, but after he got used to it he seemed like a happy baby. I was worried it would be too cold for him, but the water was already like bath water.

We waited until it was five o'clock, so that we wouldn't have to worry with sunburns for Kale or me!

We put this cute hoodie on him when he got out of the water. The air outside felt cooler than the water, even though it was 90 degrees out.

Big News

I know that many of you will be shocked to hear that we are EXPECTING--no, I am not pregnant again (gotcha, didn't I?)--we are expecting to move in the next few weeks. Kris accepted a job with a wind energy company that is based in Richmond, VA. We will be moving to Amarillo, TX, though. We have to be there by September 1st. I resigned from my job today...I am so sad to leave Hidden Hollow. I have truly loved the kids and staff that I have worked with for the past three years.

It has been a whirlwind of a year...I started a new job, Kris started graduate school, I found out I was pregnant, Kris lost his job, we had a baby, Kris found a job, and now, we are moving!!!

I have already applied to jobs in the Amarillo area and hope to find one soon. Right now we are working on getting our house on the market and hope it sells soon! We are anxious to find out what will happen with our new adventure.

David's weekend in Houston

David came to visit Kris and I in Houston this weekend. We are happy we got to spend some time with him before he leaves for Afghanistan. He will leave between June 6-10th. My grandma and mom also came for a visit. Mom and Grandma babysat so that Kris, David, and I could go out for an evening.

David also spent alot of time with Kale. This was the first time he got to meet him. David was great with him...Kale would fall asleep the second his Uncle held him.

Little Man

My brother bought this little suit for Kale to wear when he came to visit this weekend. I think he just looks adorable! Kris and I had to run out and get his picture made, AGAIN, while he could still wear the suit. I think he might be the most photographed baby in the world!!
I love this picture because it looks like he is smiling!!

Tummy Time Mat

This video is probably boring to anyone who is not family. Kale loves to play on his tummy time mat whenever he is in a good mood. It's amazing how much he is growing and changing. He focuses on the objects hanging above him and tries to grab on to them. He usually coos whenever he plays on his mat, but of course I couldn't get him to do it whenever I was videotaping him.

Molly & Kale

Molly loves Kale. She always goes to him whenever he cries. She paces and gets really upset if he won't calm down.

Picture Day

Kale got his newborn pictures taken today. He had to endure many outfit changes and he was not very patient. He was pretty fussy the whole time. We are not too sure how the pictures will turn out.

This is a picture of him in one of his outfits. He was in a great mood before the photographer arrived at our house...but as soon as she showed up, he decided to throw a fit.

My Big Boy

My baby is three weeks old today. I can hardly believe it. We had our 2 week check-up last Friday. We got a great report. He now weighs 8lbs and 9 ounces. He has regained his birthweight, plus 8 oz. The doctor said that most babies don't regain their birthweight until 14 days after birth, but Kale has, plus 8 oz! I was a little concerned that maybe I was feeding him too much, but he has also grown 2 inches in length, so the doctor was not concerned at all!

He absolutely loves his baths (for the most part). Baths really seem to calm him. As you can tell from the picture, he was in a great mood! He is already starting to coo whenever he is happy.

Sleeping Baby

I had to buy this shirt for Kale. It describes him perfectly when he is tired (he is just like his mom!) When he gets sleepy is no fun to deal with...

He is such a cute little man when he sleeps! He likes to put his hands behind his head. Kris calls it his "sexy man" pose.

He looks so peaceful!

My blackberry is in all the pictures of him sleeping because I downloaded a white noise app and it really helps him sleep. I would recommend all new parents use it. Plus, it's a free app!
