Hanging with the Boys

Kale and I were scheduled to fly out of Memphis on Monday afternoon, however, our flight got cancelled. So, we had the chance to spend the night with my good friend, Danielle. Kale got to meet a few little boys his age. Danielle's son, Jacob, is 2 months old than Kale and Brittany's son, Miller, is 2 months younger than Kale. Brittany, Danielle, Renee, and I all taught in Memphis together. Coincidentally, we all have boys! Not a single one of us have a daughter!

A Weekend in Poplar Bluff

Kale and I went to Poplar Bluff for a long weekend to visit with family members. David Ray was on leave and we had aunts and uncles in town. Kale got to meet his cousin, Connor, who is 3 weeks younger than him.

It was very hard to get a decent picture of these two. They would never look at the camera at the same time. In this picture it looks like they are wrestling. They were quite a pair!

My cousin, Jesse, with his son, Connor.

Kale and Great-Grandma Marie

Kale enjoyed spending quality time with Uncle David

If you look closely you can see a scratch mark on Kale's head. Connor tried to bite Kale and managed to scrape his teeth on Kale's head. Poor baby! Kale and Connor fought over everything. If one of them had a toy, the other one wanted it. They even took pacifiers out of each other's mouths.

I wasn't able to get too many pics this weekend because I forgot my camera charger. My mom is going to send me her camera and I will update more pics then.

Happy Valentine's Day!

For Valentine's Day. I made strawberry cupcakes. I decided to let Kale have one. This is the before picture. He was not quite sure what to do with it.

At this point, he was thinking the cupcake was pretty good.

Next, he tried to stuff the entire thing in his mouth. (which he does frequently with food. Believe it or not, it is possible to choke on mashed potatoes...at least for Kale it is.)

Yummy!

He loves sweets!

Kale's next favorite thing to do besides eat---play with dad!

I made homemade chicken parmesan for Valentine's dinner. Kris and I also got a babysitter and went out to dinner to on Saturday night.

Kris' Valentine gift to me. He went over budget!

Doors and Fireplace

Our doors has been delivered and stained. Kris insisted on getting solid wood, knotty alder doors. I have to say, now that they are hung, I am happy we went that route. That look very nice.

The top half of the fireplace has been stoned.

The entryway doorway is finished.

Hunting for Buffalo

Kris' dad has a routine that he does with all of the little kids in the family. Kris has now adopted that routine and does it with Kale. Kale loves it! Notice how he tries to "spur the horse" on at the end.

A Boy and his Dogs

Giving Molly a BIG hug!

It is so hard to get a picture with Kale's eyes open these days!

We hear alot of his "happy screams" these days!

Snow Drifts

Kris is bundled up to go outside and scoop the driveway.

There was a 4 foot snow drift behind the garage, which is where my car was parked!

9 Months Old

We had Kale's 9 month visit the other day. He weighs 19 lbs 8 oz and is only in the 24 percentile for weight. Believe it or not, he eats a ton! He is 29 inches long and is in the 64 percentile for height. The doctor thought his weight was due to the fact that he still doesn't have teeth, so he can't eat much table food.

Super Bowl Sunday

Kris and Kale watched the Super Bowl, while I cleaned the house. Kale was only able to make it until half time though. We also grilled out in the snow!

Kale loves his little "motorcyle." Uncle David bought it for him for Christmas and he could spend hours on it!

A Snow Day!

We have had really cold weather lately. Last week, the temperature was 0 degrees or colder. Not to mention, we had 40 MPH winds, so the wind chill was freezing. On Sunday, we got a few inches of snow. Last night, we got about 8 more inches of snow. The wind was, once again, brutal, so we have 5 feet snow drifts. School was called off and Kris didn't go into the office.

This was just the beginning--the roads got much worse. It was no help that our sanders, salters, and plows were on loan to Dallas for the Super Bowl!

The dogs weren't big fans of the snow. Jonah kept trying to attack it with his teeth.

Exhausted!

Having a baby is hard work! Kale is still a horrible night sleeper, which means we have to "nap when the baby does."

I was playing with Kale in his room the other day and when I came out, this is how I found Kris....

Desk/office area

Kitchen-the cabinets are obviously not stained yet. We are planning to stain them pretty darkly.

Laundry Room

Formal Living Room--I love the double trim in this room.

Outside Patio--from this view you can't see the fireplace side, but that will be built in as well.

The inside of the house is coming together nicely! The walls are all hand textured, all cabinets, trim and shelving are also in. The outside brick and stone is still not done yet. It has been freezing here! The news has been warning against frost-bite all week due to negative temperatures, so no workers have been working on outside jobs. Plus apparently mortar doesn't set right with cold weather.

9 Month Photos

My sweet boy

Kale's wink

Momma, please don't make me take anymore pictures!

All grown up--such a big boy!

I'm tired of sitting here. I think I'll get up and walk around.

Mom's favorite picture!

He was doing his happy scream for most of these photos

Showing off that new tooth!
