Kale's Baptism

Kale got baptized on July 25th. We had an entire houseful of people who came to see him get baptized. In this picture, he is enjoying some time with Grandma, looking like a big boy!!
Kris' siblings, Aaron and Missy, got to meet Kale for the first time this weekend.

This is Kale's cute baptism outfit. It had long sleeves and pants, but I thought it would be okay because we would be inside the whole time and church is usually cool...unfortunately, the air was broken. Poor Kale (and the rest of us) was so hot! I unbuttoned his pants while we were sitting in the pew to let some air get to him.

Our little family!

Kris' brother and sister, Aaron and Missy, are Kale's godparents. We also asked my brother, David, to be Kale's godfather, unfortunately he was not able to attend the baptism, because he is in Afghanistan.

Both of Kale's great-grandmothers came for the baptism. It was nice to have them there to celebrate with us.

Play Date

Kale and I enjoyed some time with our good friends Elizabeth and Avery. Elizabeth and I loved watching Avery and Kale interact. It was so cute.
We are headed on our new adventure to Amarillo this Saturday. We are going to miss having playdates with our good friends.

Happy Anniversary!

Kris and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary on July 20, 2007. I never would've guessed that day on the beach in Mexico that our lives would take so many twists and turns. But we are happier and more in love than ever!

Time with the Babies

Kris and I recently had dinner with some friends. 2 of the other girls had babies right around the same time I had Kale. Here is a picture of Kale with Gage. Gage was born about 1 week before Kale.
This is the whole group. Samantha is in the middle. Kale kept pulling Gage's hair. I think we have a lot to learn about spending time with our friends.

Bath Time

Kale really enjoys his bath these days. He splashes like crazy while I bathe him. Usually I am soaked, along with him, the counter top, and the floor.

Time with Mommy and Daddy

My little man is such a preppy dresser!!

Pool Time

Kris and I took Kale to the pool in our neighborhood the other day. He just loves the water! He "talks" like crazy whenever he is in the water. I am looking forward to getting him involved in an infant swim class when he is 6 months old. He is not scared to get the water in his face at all. As a matter of fact, we "practiced" for his baptism while we were at the pool. He didn't cry at all...but we will see how he does 2 weeks from now when the minister sprinkles water on his little head.

2 Month Check-up

Kale recently had his 2 month check-up...only we were about 3 weeks late because we had to keep rescheduling. He is doing great! He weighs 12 lbs, 11 oz. and is in the 50% for weight. I was happy to know that he is perfectly average and I have not been overfeeding him. He is 24 inches long, which is in the 90% for height. The doctor said he is going to be tall! He is very quickly outgrowing his clothing. Most of the time we only get one wear out of an outfit.

He also got his shots. He was not too happy about that. He was just laying there, cooing and smiling, and bam...he instantly had the open-mouthed scream, in which no sound comes out. He actually dealt with the aftermath fairly well. He did run a low grade fever, but seemed happy despite it.

The Fourth of July

For the fourth of July, we just hung out and relaxed. Kale had a cute little fourth of July outfit, but of course, I forgot to take a picture of him in it. It was extremely humid outside, so he was just relaxing in his bouncer with only the shorts on. He loves being naked!

Trip to Missouri

Kale and I went to visit my parents in Missouri for a week in June. Kris was out of town all of June, so it was nice to have some help with Kale. My mom adores Kale. He is lucky to have such a doting grandmother! I have a feeling he is going to have her wrapped around his finger in the coming years.
This was my dad's first time to meet Kale. He was funny with him. He had very adult conversations with him. He gave him a tour of the house, pulled a chair up beside his bouncy seat to watch TV with him, and showed him the moon and stars at night.
My parents had just returned from visiting my brother in South Carolina. My mom found this cute little camo outfit at the Marine store.
My mom bought Kale a little pool. I put my swimming suit on and sat in the pool with him. He really seemed to enjoy it. He would coo and smile. I think he is a water baby!

Kale's First Plane Ride

Kale took his first plane ride when he and I went visit my parents in Missouri. I was very nervous about taking him by myself (Kris was out of town). Luckily, he did fantastic! The plane was practically empty, so he had his own seat next to me. I made sure he was drinking when we took off so he wouldn't have problems with his ears. After take off, he pretty much fell asleep and slept the rest of the way. At this point, he has been on a plane 4 times and has done great each time.

Talking

Kale is really becoming vocal these days. His smiles and coos melt my heart!

Chinese P.J.s

Kris went on a recent trip to China. He brought back lots of treasures, including these silk pajamas for Kale. As you can tell from the pictures, he was very excited to wear them!

Our New House

We found a house to lease for awhile when we move to Amarillo. It's in a nice older neighborhood. The house itself is quite a bit older, but it has been updated signficantly. This is the main living area.

This is another picture of the main living area. You can tell the house is older by looking at how low the ceilings are.

This is the kitchen. It has been modernized with all new cabinetry, appliciances, light fixtures, flooring, etc. There is a nice big dining area with a bay window. We know the dogs will love to sit in the window and look out.

The back yard is huge! This is only half of it. I know Kris is going to have a great time mowing! The dogs will love running around though!

There is also a massive covered patio with a ceiling fan. I know we will enjoy sitting outside since the weather is decent in Amarillo.

The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, so we will welcome any visitors! We are about 3 hours from Santa Fe and 5 hours from Denver, so feel free to stop by if you are heading that way!

Amarillo, Here we Come!!

Our family took a trip to Amarillo so we could go house hunting, find a day care for Kale, and so that I could go on interviews. Kale did a great job, considering he spent much of the time in his car seat being carted from place to place.

This is the crib the hotel gave us for Kale to sleep in. It looks like a jail cell!

Of course we had to go visit the Big Texan-the steakhouse that serves a 72 oz. steak. Neither Kris, nor I, decided to take the challenge. The food there really was not that good, considering how famous the restaurant is. I think they pride themselves on quantity, not quality.

This guy did try to eat the 72 oz. steak, along with a salad, 3 shrimp, a basket of rolls, and a baked potato. I am not serve if he accomplished his task, as we left before he was done. We looked at the record for this place and one guy ate all that food in just over 8 minutes. Another guy ate 2 meals within an hour! Amazing!

We did get a lot accomplished on our trip. I have a job! We found a house that we are going to lease (until our current house sells), and we found a great daycare for Kale. We will be moving within the next 3-4 weeks. We plan to take possession of our lease house around the first of August. We are not really sure about the town of Amarillo yet. Everyone is so nice, and it has a definite small town feel to it, however, it doesn't appear that there is too much going on. We did see 3 guys riding horses on the interstate. Maybe I'll take up a new hobby?

Kale found his tongue!

This video cracks me up! One day Kale discovered that he had a tongue. He spent the entire day (literally) sticking his tongue in and out. It was hilarious!

Father's Day

Kris was out of town for his first Father's Day. Kale and I were sad that we couldn't be with him! He was in China, so we sent along cards, so he could open them on the big day. Once he got home, we celebrated by going out to eat Kris' favorite kind of food-Mexican!

Kale got Kris a massage and a new GPS system (since his broke). I love this picture of my two boys looking like "twins." Kale has lots of polo-like shirts, so he can look just like daddy!
