First Day at "School"

Kale's first day at daycare was today. He did really well. His momma did NOT do too well. I cried at daycare, cried all the way to work, and seriously thought about calling in "sick" because I was so upset. And he only had to go for a half day today! His teachers assured me he did great. He is one of five children in the infant program. There are two teachers. That is a pretty good ratio.

Kris and I tried to take Kale's picture by the door with his "school bag" just like our parents did when we were kids. He didn't cooperate too well with standing up.

A Growing Boy

Kale had his 4 month check-up today. He is doing great! The doctor said he is the perfect mix of weight vs. height. He weighed 15 lbs. 9 oz. and was 26 inches long. He was in the 59th percentile for weight, and the 81st percentile for height.

A Visit from Gram

My mom came to watch Kale for 2 weeks so that I could start school. Kale loved spending time with his Gram. (I think she loved spending time with him as well!) She spoiled him terribly! I was spoiled while she was here, as well. Every day when I came home from work the house was clean, dinner cooked, etc.

Thanks, Mom! I don't what we would've done without you!

We Miss Uncle David!

My mom got Kale this USMC shirt. He was finally able to fit into it.

We hear from David Ray periodically. I don't think he likes being in Afghanistan too much, but who could blame him?
My mom sends him packages every Monday, and Kris and I send packages every few weeks. We really miss him and pray for him constantly.

Kale has on his Ed Hardy shirt that Uncle David bought him. He is already into designer clothes. I am afraid that onsie cost more than any one item in my wardrobe.

Kale is desperately trying to talk. I think Kris and I are going to be in trouble when he learns how. I also think he will probably get in trouble at school for talking too much or talking back.

My Favorite Sound

My mom is here visiting for 2 weeks. She came into town to watch Kale for us for the first few weeks I am back to work. Kale cannot start daycare until the 23rd, and I had to go back the 11th. Kale is having a great time playing with his gram. She really makes him laugh!

And yes, in this video he does have on Halloween pajamas. When I was pregnant with Kale, I stupidly thought that when he was 6 months old, he would wear 6 month clothing.  So, I found a Halloween outfit on clearance. I counted ahead from the month Kale was born, and thought the outfit would fit him in October. Little did I know...

The Sweetest Sound...

This video shows Kale laughing. I love to hear his laugh. I think it is the sweetest sound in the world. Make sure the volume is turned up on your computer, otherwise it's kind of hard to hear. I know this video looks like I am shaking my child, but I promise, I am not. He just loves to be thrown up in the air. He is going to be a dare devil!

Mommy's little helper

Kale likes to help me write the blog these days. If you see any typos, it's his fault!

Happy Boy

As I was unpacking, Kale loved to sit in the middle of the paper the movers packed the stuff in. I would unwrap an item, and then throw the paper in the area where he was sitting. He loved the sound it made and luckily, it occupied him for quite some time.

First Meal

I started Kale on rice cereal from a bowl, or at least attempted to. He didn't seem to like the taste too much. This is the before picture.

AFTER!!!

Just Plain Cute

Isn't he just plain cute? He is growing at an unbelieveable rate and is a real cutie these days. I love to hear the sound of his laugh.

The Pups

Apparently it takes awhile for dogs to adjust to a new area too. Molly was so upset about the move that she didn't eat for 7 days straight. She is much skinnier than when we left Kingwood. She and Jonah have been inseperable since we've been at the new house. They are not sure what to think.

On another front, it took Jonah exactly 7 days to dig out of our new yard. I thought they would love the giant yard and huge porch. I guess Jonah wanted to see what was out of the yard. He dug out right under the gate, just like he used to do in Kingwood. I got up that morning saw Molly in the neighbor's front yard. Not good.

Road Trip

Kale and I went on his first road trip. He did fairly well. We drove halfway (to Fort Worth) on Thursday evening. I thought he would sleep the whole way since I drove at night, but he did some crying. The next morning we got up and took off for Amarillo. We stopped about 3-4 times along the way. Overall, he did great and slept most of the way. He did have one major crying fit and I couldn't get him to calm down. I had to pull over and he was so upset, he just kept crying for about 20 minutes.

He was thrilled when we finally arrived at our hotel on Friday!

Apparently the road trip really wore him out! Even after we got out of the car, he slept and slept. (That was not a good thing for me that night...he didn't sleep too much at all.)

Leaving Kingwood

Well, as most of you know. We have already left Kingwood and are now living in Amarillo. It was weird to see our house after the movers had packed and loaded everything. It's amazing what the carpet looks like under furniture that hasn't been moved for 4 years!

It was bittersweet to leave our home. This was the first home we ever owned, along with the house we brought Kale home to. It is also amazing to see how much junk we have acculumated over the  past four years!

The night before we left, Kale and I had dinner with the wonderful women I have worked with for the past several years. Kale and I will definitely miss his "aunties."

Amarillo Update

Well, I have pictures to post, but I currently cannot find the cord that downloads the pictures from my camera to my computer (it's in a box somewhere). In the meantime, I know some of you are wondering how things are going here in Amarillo.

Kris and I officially moved in the house on Sunday. The movers brought all the stuff and did a great job packing, unpacking, etc. So far, we have only found one item that was damaged. That is a real step up from our previous move from Memphis to Houston. I have most of the boxes unpacked, aside from the dining room. We also have some major work to do the garage! We are storing alot of stuff in the garage, since our lease house is quite a bit smaller than our home in Kingwood was.

Kale and I drove to Amarillo separate from Kris. We arrived on Friday evening. We had to drive up on our own because I had to sign the lease on Saturday and Kris had class in Houston. Kale did pretty well on his first roadtrip. It's about a 9 hour drive, so we drove it in shifts. We drove to Fort Worth and got a hotel on Thursday night, then drove the rest of the way to Amarillo on Friday. Kale just had a few crying fits, so overall it was a good trip. We did have a bit of a predicament on Saturday: I had a flair up with kidney stones. I ended up at urgent care, with Kale. Luckily, he was in a good mood and really behaved himself. I was feeling much better, so I thought perhaps I had passed the stone, but today I discovered I hadn't. I was in major pain and called and begged a local urologist to see me. I can already see that one of the benefits to living in a small city will be that people are alot more considerate. I have a CT scheduled for tomorrow and we will determine if I need surgery from there. For now, I am high on pain meds!

I had two days of inservice this week and officially start my job next Wednesday. I feel like I am really going to enjoy working in this district. I am very impressed with the district's priorities right now--they really seem all about the kids. Kris has been working from home this week. He leaves for Houston on Sunday. (A ship is coming into Galveston). My mom will arrive on Tuesday night to keep Kale for two weeks. He can't start daycare until the 23rd, so she volunteered to come watch him. I know he is looking forward to spending one-on-one time with grandma (and likewise I am sure!).

I will post pictures when I uncover my camera cord.
