Kale's Obsessions

Kale has many obsessions these days. Wearing other people's shoes is just one of them. He loves to put my high heels on and click-clack all over the wooden floors.

Kris is a little worried, but I assure him that Kale just likes the sound! :)

Kale also loves his hoodie. I try to keep it put up, but the other day he found it in his diaper bag, pulled it out, and then refused to eat without it.

I finally gave in and just put it on him so he would stop messing with it. He thinks he is very good at dressing himself (he's not though).

Once he had the hoodie on he was a happy, compliant boy and ate all of his dinner!

Weekend Projects

Kris was extra motivated this weekend and decided to stain our fence. I originally asked him how long he thought it would take...he thought about 3-4 hours to do the whole thing. Unfortunately he was a little off on the time committment. It took him about 4 hours to do just the outside. Next weekend, he plans to work on staining the inside, which will take even longer! Despite the hard work, I think the fence looks great!

Wagon Rides

Kale is lovin wagon rides! Kris takes him on an almost daily basis. If Kale can manage to slip out the garage door, he is climbing into the wagon.

27 weeks

Well, I am really beginning to feel pregnant. My back hurts all of the time...I mean ALL of the time. I have gained roughly 15 pounds all in my stomach, plus I carry a 22 lb. child around daily. My poor back is protesting at this point and I have 12 more weeks to go! I am also starting to swell. This is much earlier than I ever swelled with Kale. I currently cannot take off my rings. But...I suppose it will all be worth it in the end!!! We can't wait to meet baby Liam!

The Trick to Eating

This weekend I discovered Kale loves ketchup, which is fitting considering Kris loves ketchup as well. Ketchup was the key to getting Kale to eat. If he could dip it in ketchup, he would eat it...however, this seems to have been a temporary solution. It worked well for a few days, and now he pretty much dips the french fry, chicken nugget, etc, in the ketchup, licks the ketchup off and that's it. I really hope he starts eating soon, otherwise Liam may be bigger than Kale is!

The Best Weekend Ever! (Cont.)

I got cut off in my previous session, so this entry is the end of the previous blog post...not sure what happened.

Kale is loving the train!
You can see him squealing in delight!
On Sunday we went to church, then the boys took naps.

Look at Kale's crazy hair in this picture. We don't know what to do with it...we brush and brush it, but it doesn't make a difference. Kris wants to cut it, but Kale has very little hair in the front, so I am not so sure.

My little man is getting so big!

The Best Weekend!

Kale probably had the best weekend of his little life this weekend. Friday started out as a beautiful day. It was cool in the morning, but then warmed up nicely in the afternoon. I had to take a picture of Kale in his "Italia" hoodie. I think he looks like something off of Jersery Shore (which I promise I don't watch by the way...I do watch a lot of smutty tv, but that's not one of my shows!). Kris bought the hoodie for Kale when he was in Italy.

On Friday, Kale went to his new sitter, whom he LOVES! It is night and day different when you find a sitter that takes such good care of your child. I am so thankful we have found Patti and Kori!

On Friday night, we went out for dinner and discovered that Kale LOVES ketchup! Like father like son!

On Saturday, we went to the parade in downtown Amarillo, which kicks off the Tri-state Fair and Rodeo. Kale really enjoyed watching all of the floats, bands, and flashing lights.

On Saturday evening, we went to the fair. (I know--there's not much going on in Amarillo.) Kale enjoyed going through the free petting zoo.

Kale was enamored by the horns on this animal.

There was even a zebra, which I was very impressed with. He wouldn't let us pet him though.

Lots of varieties of goats, etc, had gotten out of their pens and were running freely around the exhibit. No one made an effort to put them back in their pens either. Only in Amarillo!

Kale rode on a pony! In this picture, he is pulling the pony's hair!

Kale absolutely loved riding the rides! There were only a few he could go on due to height restrictions, but he had so much fun. He did throw a bit of a fit when he took him off though.

The train was one of his favorites.

He was also the driver of the school bus.

Another variety of train....

Liam and I enjoyed some roasted corn. The fair food is the best! We had corn, rib-eye sandwiches, fries, popcorn, lemonade, and a fried ding-dong. Delicious!

Kale's second ride on the merry-go-round.

Kale's New Socks

Kale really enjoys playing with Kris socks...dirty or clean. He will hold them up to his nose and say "Sssshooo!"

Yesterday morning when Kris was putting on his sock and shoes for work, Kale took off with dad's socks. Kris decided to put them on Kale. Kale really thought it was so neat to walk around in dad's socks. He was slipping and slidding like crazy on our wood floor, but he was lovin it!

Blowing Kisses

Kale loves to blow kisses. We have a routine each night after Kris bathes him...he and Kris come out of the bathroom to tell me good night and Kale obsessively blows me kisses! He has even started to blow kisses to the baby sitter before we leave her house in the afternoon.

Our Weekend

Every weekend we plan to have a nice, relaxing weekend, however, something always comes up that keeps us busy. This weekend, Kris did manage to watch the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game. Kris was thrilled that Iowa State won. Kale and Kris dressed up in their Iowa State gear to celebrate the occasion.
Kale is getting to be such a big boy. He loves to sit in the patio chairs by himself and manages to get in and out of them just fine. Notice the shoes he has on in the picture...he is obsessed with these shoes. They are velcro and he can get them on and off himself. I think that's why he likes them so much.

Kale's social calendar is busier than mine and Kris'. He got to attend a birthday party for a friend this weekend. It was at a gymnastics studio. Kale loved jumping around on the various trampolines.

Finally, we ended our weekend with a little yard work. Kale wanted in on the action and helped Kris weed the flower garden. It never ceases to amazes me how much he picks up on. He mimics Kris and I to no end. His latest "trick" is that he has started putting everything away on his own. I am still so surprised he even notices where some of the items go.

24 weeks

Well-I am 24 1/2 weeks! That 1/2 is pretty important! I am feeling pretty good, although I felt better when I didn't have to work. I am much more tired now that I can't nap when Kale does. I have an appointment at the end of this week to check on sweet Liam. We will get to have another ultrasound in about 4 weeks.

When Kris was taking pictures of belly, Kale just had to get in on the action. We couldn't get him to stay out of the shot. He loves the camera and can pose with the best of them!

My sweet boy!

Kale's Teeth

Although we should've started long ago, we are finally brushing Kale's teeth. I know it is kind of gross and not very hygenic, waiting until Kale had 12 teeth to actually start brushing...but we did. It is hard to remember to brush someone else's teeth, especially when it didn't start out as a habit.

Kale loves to have his teeth brushed (luckily)! He opens his mouth up nice and wide and starts smiling as soon as he sees his toothbrush. We are enjoying it, as we know in the not too distant future getting him to brush his teeth could be a battle!

More of Liam's Room

I am determined to do just as much for Liam as I did for Kale...none of that second child syndrome in this family! So...I have been working very hard to document progress on his nursery. I do have to work on improving taking pics of the baby bump though.

Liam's rocker/recliner came in this weekend. It is SO nice. We bought a cheap rocker for Kale's room and it has already fallen apart. We decided to spend the money and buy a good one for Liam's room and it really is true--you get what you pay for!

I also managed to find a lamp that "goes with" Liam's room fairly well. Although it's more "under the sea" than "tropical", I think it will serve its purpose!

Celebrating the Return of Fall!

We are SO excited that's it's Labor Day weekend. We all need the break from work and daycare. On Saturday when Kale was napping, I decided to break out the Fall decorations. I am hoping this will bring on the cooler temperatures...it has still been incredibly hot here. We have had more than 50 days with temperatures above the 100 degree mark this summer. We are also in a major drought. The average rainfall at this point in the year is typically about 15", however, as of right now, we have had a whooping total of 1" in 2011.

I am also hoping for some cooler weather because I am so tired of playing outside in this heat. Kale doesn't seem to mind though.

Check out the shirt my mom sent Kale. In case you can't read it, it says "One more NO and I'm going to Grandma's!" No is probably the most commonly used word in my vocabulary right now.

Kris is such a great dad. Kale loves to play with his dad. They play all kinds of games I never would've thought of!

Kale is still obsessed with the dogs. Although they aren't very fond of him right now. He feeds them, then proceeds to dump their food on the ground.

This is the face Kale makes after taste testing dog food. He will put it to his lips and lick it and say "Ssshhhooo!"
