This is obviously a very old picture of Kale...it was taken last Thanksgiving when we went to visit David Ray in D.C. It has been a year since David's injury. I am so proud of the progress that he has made and I am thankful every day that I still have a brother. It's hard to believe a year has passed...sometimes it feels like only minutes have gone by, while other times it seems like it has been decades.
David is still in Maryland at NNMC. He lives on the hospital base and has physical therapy and other various required activities daily. He has gotten quite adept at using his prostetic. He did have surgery yesterday on his ear. His ear drum was blown out during the blast, so he has had issues hearing out of one ear. He will have to have surgery again in about 4 months to insert ear bone that is missing from his ear. He is recovering well from his surgery and will be up and moving sooner than later! David plans to come to Amarillo to visit Kale and Liam (and Kris and I, too) at Christmastime.
